MINNEOLA CITY COUNCIL MEETS                                                January 20, 2026

The Minneola City Council met in regular session on January 20, 2026, in the Civic Connection. The meeting was called to order at 7:00 p.m., with the following Council members present: Marvin Jensen, Dustin Laudick, Chad Kirk, and Galen Rankin. President of Council, Marvin Jensen, presided in the absence of Mayor Sibley. Also present were Tyler Knox, City Manager and Brenda Stewart, City Clerk.

Newly voted in Councilmembers were welcomed. Brenda covered KOMA and Executive Session rules.

Michelle Mahieu, Civic Club, asked for permission to bring in a storage container to help store Christmas decorations for the Veteran’s Park. She met with Tyler and have located a spot in the City Shop area. If it is unsightly or becomes unsightly, they will paint it. Tyler advised that pavers would need to be placed underneath the container and the City would also need a key. Dustin made a motion to approve the storage container, Chad seconded, motion passed 4/0.

Brenda presented information about Christmas décorations for the Veteran’s Park and that maybe the City could help by adding one decoration a year. Council asked Brenda to bring more information to the next meeting.

Dustin made a motion to approve the minutes from December 15, 2025, Chad seconded, motion passed 4/0.

Financial Reports for December 2025 were reviewed. Brenda reviewed JE #80. The Council asked Brenda to bring water rate information to the next meeting. There were no further questions.

Manager Update:

  • Security cameras have now been installed at the City Shop. This will help show what is happening at the shop and yard.
  • The dog kennels are being reinstalled. This will give citizen’s a few days to claim their dog before we take them to Ashland. We will be adding no trespassing signs. The Council asked for our City codes to be reviewed to make sure there is a hourly rate and boarding fees.
  • The 30’ Christmas tree blew over with the high winds. We will need to straighten the frame and order some additional parts. The City thanks Building Solutions for their assistance in getting the tree back upright.
  • The trailer at 109 Maple is scheduled for demolition the end of January.
  • The guys have been cleaning the shop and tore down the 2 small metal sheds that were in the yard. Other items were discussed as to whether they could be thrown away.
  • Don Paddock is replacing some of the tile and caulking at the pool. The replacement tile is similar, but not identical, to the current tile.
  • Tyler is getting pricing to add a lean-to at the shop area so items and equipment can be stored outside out of the sun.

Sunrise Addition and Kansas Gas was reviewed. Tyler will get a timeline schedule from Smokey Hill so we can schedule the gas company. Tyler will also review the drawings for sewer, water, gas and electrical locations.

Reminder that the February meeting date will be Tuesday, February 17.

The yearly water conference in March was discussed along with some other notes from the Council.

The City received a check from Security 1st Title from the sale of the 303 Spruce. The property was sold prior to the 5-year agreement date. The money was then forwarded on to the Housing Authority.

The annual dog clinic has been scheduled for Saturday, February 28, 10 am-12 pm. Citizens will have until March1 to have their dogs registered for free.

The bills were reviewed. Chad made a motion to approve the bills as presented, Galen seconded, motion passed 4/0

Dustin made a motion to adjourn the meeting, Galen seconded, motion passed 4/0. The meeting adjourned at 8:10 pm.
